Boniface Mukoma
Boni is the Project Manager. He is a self-disciplined, industrious, and resourceful scientist with eight years of experience in research. He leads our team through many challenges, which requires systematic implementation of project protocols as well as flexibility and creativity.
Echwa John
Echwa is a Research Assistant who assists with community engagement, interviews, and data management. Echwa is from Rumuruti and speaks English, Turkana, Swahili, and Gikuyu. He is interested in how communities change through time and how this lifestyle change will affect future generations.
Patricia Kinyua
Patricia is an Assistant Research Scientist with a BSc in Biology. She assists with biological sample collection and processing. She is interested in immunology and how an individual’s history of immune exposures influences their current inflammatory response.

Mike Makau
Mike is an Ultrasound Technician from Nanyuki and has a degree in Radiology. He is interested in understanding the relationship between lifestyle change, water intake, kidney health, and disease.
Nicholas Mutai
Nicholas is a Laboratory Technician and Phlebotomist. He is from Kericho County and is interested in antimicrobial resistance and how a One Health approach could be useful for tackling this issue.

Kristina Garske
Kristina is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Ayroles lab at Princeton University. She is interested in understanding how gene-environment interactions contribute to risk for developing complex, non-communicable diseases. Beyond research, she also provides support to the project in the form of training, mentoring, and logistics coordination.

John Christopher Kahumbu
John is a Research Scientist working with the THGP and the Grevy’s Zebra Genetics Project. John is from Nakuru and holds a BSc in Microbiology and Biotechnology. He is interested in the genetic basis of disease, especially the role of the non-coding genome. He is also interested in the development of genetic engineering technologies to treat and prevent disease.
